João José Silva Abranches Garcia is a Portuguese climber. He became the tenth climber in the world to ascend the planet's 14 mountains over 8,000 meters, all without the use of artificial oxygen and without altitude chargers, when on April 17, 2010 he reached the summit of Annapurna (8091 meters ) the last of those 14 mountains he lacked. He has also climbed the "Seven Summits” (the highest summit on each continent). The ascent that brought him the most fame was the climb to Mount Everest (8848 meters), having been the first Portuguese to reach its summit, on the 18th. of May 1999.
