The AquaValor Association is a non-profit organization that counts with 2 years of activity, starting in November 2018, with 25 associates, some of which being the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), the Intermunicipal Community of Alto Tâmega (CIM-AT), the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), the University of Vigo (UVigo), the Hospital Centre of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro-EPE, the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Eurocity ChavesVerín, and some of the main private sector players that are associated with the tourism and natural mineral water sectors (e.g. Associação Termas de Portugal, Associação da Hotelaria de Portugal, Solverde SA, Águas de Carvalhelhos SA, Águas Campilho Vidago SA, Grupo Hotéis Premium SGPS SA, Termalistur - Termas de São Pedro do Sul EM SA, VMPS - Águas e Turismo SA, Gestão de Equipamentos de Município de Chaves EM SA, Uniksystem Sistemas de Informação Lda. , Pena Aventura Organização de Atividades Desportivas Lda., Restaurante Carvalho Lda., Balneario Rio Pambre S.L. (Spain), among others). The main objective of this association is to stimulate and coordinate responses to specific needs and challenges previously identified in the thematic area of Natural Mineral Water. These responses will be based on advanced technological and scientific knowledge, through the development of innovative technological solutions, to improve the production and capitalization of natural and cultural goods, and derived products. It aims at promoting synergies between the natural mineral water, health, cosmetics, food, and tourism sectors, based on regional endogenous assets and on human resources training and qualification in the mineral water sector and related areas. The AquaValor Association relies on the study of natural mineral water in a holistic and integrative way, through 4 distinct axes: Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the Service of Mineral Waters, Specialised Services dedicated to the Generation of Added Value; Research and Innovation, and Human Resources Training.
